UrbanGo is a public transit and mapping startup based in Silicon Valley. Their goal is to solve the problems of urban mobility by offering the quickest and cheapest public and private transport routes to their users. An additional feature to the app is the possibility to buy tickers for your travel using both private and public transportation.

When interviewing my candidates the main problem that came to my attention acquiring public transport tickets (mainly abroad) is the frustration of buying a ticket or getting all your tickets at once or combining different kind of travel possibilities at once. Also using a taxi with the feeling you might pay too much was also mentioned. Especially in countries where English is not a second language this brings a lot of stress and discomfort.

With the new feature to this app I’m trying to relieve people from their frustrations and stress by allowing travellers to buy and plan their trip in one single moment. By integrating payment options as Google Pay, Apple Pay and Paypal is becomes easier and safer for users to buy one ticket for their trip.

When choosing to travel by cab they user will always get a fixed price and it is possible to hail the cab after payment is done. The QR code that is generated works as a ticket and allows the user to travel to its destination within the selected date and time.

One of the key learnings from this assignment is that the iteration process already starts during the sketch fase. An idea only works if you check if it works first. It might work in your head, and you might think it is brilliant, but in practice it shows otherwise. By sketching you can quickly test your ideas and adjust them instantly. Also by sketching you create room for new thoughts and you can discover new possibilities and findings to enhance your work.
